Content: High-quality research data is an essential resource for science and society. Knowing how to organize and manage research data is one of the most important prerequisites for ensuring the quality, security, durability, and reproducibility of research data, both during a research project and in the long-term. In this seminar, students will learn about basic principles and good scientific practice in RDM, open research data strategies, data governance, and open science policies at the national and international levels. A brief overview throughout the data life cycle will be provided with hands-on exercises. During the exercises, aspects of ethical data collection, data reuse, data generation, data processing, data documentation and data licensing will be discussed. Questions related to the preparation of data and metadata, as well as code, and software for publication will also be addressed. Procedure: The seminar will start with an input lecture on Open Research Data, FAIR and CARE principles, and good scientific practices. In the second part, students will have the opportunity to apply the content from the lecture to their own examples in small groups. Afterward, lecturers and students will discuss the examples from working groups in the plenary. The seminar will be closed with practical recommendations and lessons learned.
